Boréale. As in aurora borealis, the lights of the North. We take pride in the association of the vast northern wilderness with our superior, all-natural beers.

Our microbrewery, founded in 1987, is famous for its six ale-type beers – Boréale Rousse, Boréale Blonde, Boréale Cuivrée, Boréale Noire, Boréale Dorée and the newest member of the family, Boréale Blanche. All are authentic beers with lots of character. At Boréale, we use only the best ingredients and accept no compromises. We want to be the best we can be.

All Boréale beers are available in kegs and bottles. Our labels proudly feature the polar bear, symbol of our company’s strength, independence and enterprise.

Pioneers in the renaissance of the brewer’s art, Laura Urtnowski, Bernard Morin and Jean Morin were still in their twenties when they founded Les Brasseurs du Nord in 1987. As students they had perfected their own beer recipe. Their homebrew met with such success that they decided to start up a brewery.

Intent on sharing their passion for different and original beers, they became in 1988 the first brewers to offer Quebecers a red-coloured ale, Boréale Rousse.

Pride of craft and the quest for good taste experiences have kept them focused on an artisan approach that puts quality above quantity. Talent and dedication have made Les Brasseurs du Nord one of Quebec’s leading microbreweries.
